JOIN US ! THE BOTSWANA HIV CLINICIANS SOCIETY SEEKS NEW MEMBERS !

Dear Colleagues

You are cordially invited to join the Botswana Branch of the Southern African HIV Clinicians Society. It has been the foremost provider of continuing medical education in Botswana for the past several years. Although geared primarily to doctors and pharmacists, all health care professionals in Botswana are eligible to join.

The Society has multiple objectives -

• 1.To promote the highest standards in the care of HIV positive people in Botswana in both the private and public sectors
• 2.To act as the representative body of clinicians treating HIV in Botswana, in their dealings with government and other relevant parties
• 3.To provide a forum for clinicians via which knowledge and experience of care of HIV positive people can be shared
• 4. To assist in the development of a private-public partnership between the private and public sectors, to enhance access to treatment for all who are in need of treatment for HIV
• 5. To assist in drawing up clinical guidelines and periodic revision of such guidelines for management of HIV
• 6.To organize and promote conferences, training courses and other forms of continuing education for HIV clinicians in Botswana : to date we have held 3 conferences, in 2006, 2008 and 2010

The Society has branches in Gaborone and Francistown . Monthly CME sessions are held usually on the 1st Thursday of each month at the Boehringer Ingelheim Training Centre in Gaborone, at 6pm. [In April 2011, it will be held on the 2nd Thursday , 14 April ] . Light refreshments are provided. In Francistown, meetings are usually held on the 1st Wednesday of the month at Nyangabgwe Hospital .
