The Botswana HIV Clinicians Society is the Botswana Branch of the Southern African HIV Clinicians Society
(SAHIV). It was formed in 2002 and is formally registered with the Registrar of Societies (Reg No. CR6399).
Its members include doctors, pharmacists, dentists, laboratory scientists, psychologists, counsellors, social workers
and others involved in the care of HIV positive people.
The objectives of The Society include:
The Promotion of the highest standards in the medical care of HIV positive individuals in Botswana by all clinicans in both the
public and private Sectors;
Representation of the clinicians,tratinf HIV infecyed person in Botswana,in their dealing with the government or any other
organisation or party;
The provision of the forum via which knowledge and experience in the care of HIV infected individuals can be shared by clinicians;
Aiding in the development of a partnership between the private and public medical sectors in order to enhance the access for all
persons requiring HIV treatment in Botswana;
Participating in both the drafting and the periodic revision of clinical gudelines for the management of HIV in Botswana;
The organisation and promotion of conferences,training courses and other forms of continuing medical education for HIV
clinicians in Botswana.
